Past Perfect Tense (Existential “There”)

Past Perfect Tense में “there” का प्रयोग यह बताने के लिए किया जाता है कि भूतकाल में किसी दूसरे कार्य से पहले कुछ मौजूद था, हो चुका था, या उपस्थित था। इसका structure होता है: There had been + noun। इसका प्रयोग तब किया जाता है जब हमें बताना हो कि भूतकाल में किसी निश्चित समय या घटना से पहले कोई व्यक्ति, वस्तु, स्थिति या घटना मौजूद थी। उदाहरण के लिए: “There had been a big crowd before the chief guest arrived.” अर्थात मुख्य अतिथि के आने से पहले वहाँ बहुत बड़ी भीड़ मौजूद थी। दूसरा उदाहरण: “There had been many problems in the company before the new manager joined.” यानी नए मैनेजर के आने से पहले कंपनी में कई समस्याएँ थीं। इसलिए ध्यान रखें कि यहाँ “there” स्थान नहीं बताता, बल्कि यह केवल किसी चीज़ के अस्तित्व (existence) को बताने के लिए प्रयोग होता है।

Affirmative Sentence

Sentence: There had been a power cut in the evening.
Structure: There + had + been + article + noun + preposition + article + noun
